This project aims at the documentation and conservation of such traditional houses of different regions of India, having a strong regional character. The need for this documentation is due to the lack of awareness among people and owners, increase in urban development, rapid growth of real estate, decrease in number of traditional craftsman and local resources which is leading to negligence towards the local architecture of a place.
The project involves doing a detailed understanding and study of the traditional construction at macro, micro and component level. Where in, it will identify historic precincts and settlements and identify some traditional houses having the essence of regional character and local construction methods, and will be followed with detail documentation of each architectural feature and construction techniques which are unique to each structure.
