In 2016, architects Zarna Shah and Sanjukta Das united to transform Samanuvidhatr into MAATI, a non-profit dedicated to celebrating India’s architectural history, traditional ideologies, and culture. Their vision was to inspire appreciation for India’s rich architectural heritage and enhance well-being through thoughtful design.
MAATI is a team of passionate conservators who work in the field of heritage conservation and architecture education. We offer expertise and leadership in preserving both tangible and intangible heritage.

Founder & Principal Architect
Zarna is a renowned expert in architectural conservation with a rich academic background and extensive professional experience. She holds degrees in Architecture, Professional Studies, and Urban Conservation, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Conservation Studies from the University of York, London. Committed to preserving India’s cultural heritage, Zarna integrates innovative preservation techniques to safeguard architectural treasures and revitalize communities, positioning MAATI at the forefront of sustainable heritage conservation in India.
