IIA (Indian Institute of Architects) ANVESHAN International Research Conference

MAATI, presented a research paper on “Indigenous Settlement Patterns and Habitats: A Case Study of the Mishing Community in Majuli, Assam” at the recent IIA (Indian Institute of Architects) ANVESHAN International Research Conference held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 29th August to 31st August 2024. The paper focused on the study and understanding of indigenous architecture and traditional knowledge systems of the Mishing community with respect to its socio-cultural aspects, housing patterns and adaptation to the natural environment along with highlighting value systems and strategies to preserve and promote local architecture.

The paper was authored by Ar. Sanjukta Das (mid-level principal architect, MAATI), co-authored with Ar. Maria Khan (junior architect, MAATI) and Ar. Shubhada Agrawal (Assistant professor, S.B Patil College of Architecture, Pune). The conference was attended with delegates from all over the country, it provided a platform for experts and researchers to share knowledge, experiences and best practices.
