This project aims to document and map the cultural heritage of Raghurajpur, Odisha, and its physical landscape, while exploring their interrelationship. Renowned for its traditional pattachitra paintings, Raghurajpur is home to a variety of art forms that have played a vital role in shaping both the built environment and the lifestyle of its community.
The architecture of the village reflects the social life there. The art forms, festivals, daily life, climate, and local materials all give rise to a distinct form of architecture. The project tries to understand this relationship. Different communities and occupations have been documented. The architecture of the traditional houses has also been studied with respect to the house form and functional spaces.
